Bollywood Actor Govinda Accidentally Shoots Himself, Escapes Major Injury

Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been hospitalized after suffering a leg injury at his home due to an accidental discharge from his revolver. According to Mumbai Police, the 60-year-old actor is receiving treatment at CritiCare Hospital and is reportedly out of danger.

The incident occurred around 4:45 am as Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata. While handling his licensed revolver, it slipped from his hand and accidentally fired, causing the injury. His manager, Shashi Sinha, confirmed that the bullet has been removed, and the actor is expected to recover fully. Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was in Kolkata at the time, is now on her way back to Mumbai to be by his side.

Authorities have seized the weapon, and an investigation is underway, though no formal complaint has been lodged.

Govinda rose to immense popularity as a comedy star in the 1990s, starring in hit films such as Aankhen (1993), Coolie No. 1 (1995), Dulhe Raja (1998), and Partner (2007), among others. His charm and versatility made him a beloved figure in Bollywood.
