[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]ISLAMABAD: On Sunday, the foreign ministers of Pakistan and Afghanistan reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing and practical engagement, emphasising the importance of enhanced coordination to combat terrorism and deepening bilateral cooperation.
According to a Foreign Office spokesperson, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari hosted Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). They had an open and candid discussion about key issues of mutual concern, such as peace and security, as well as trade and connectivity.
In terms of bilateral and transit trade, the two sides emphasised the importance of removing trade barriers in order to advance the goal of greater regional economic integration and connectivity. The foreign minister also hosted a luncheon at the ministry in honour of the visiting Afghan delegation.

The acting Afghan foreign minister and the acting Afghan minister for commerce and industry are on a four-day visit to Pakistan, accompanied by high-level delegations, beginning May 5. On Saturday, in addition to bilateral meetings, the Afghan foreign minister attended the 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue.
The three sides agreed to advance political engagement, counterterrorism cooperation, and trade, investment, and connectivity under the trilateral framework at the trilateral dialogue, which was also attended by the Chinese foreign minister.
On Sunday, the three countries’ foreign ministers agreed to maintain good relations, deepen mutual trust, respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and address differences and disputes through equal consultation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
