The Taliban’s designated spokesperson, Muhammad Asif Waziri, stated that the incident happened during a meeting and claimed the lives of several people who were present within the structure.

It is still unknown who carried out the assault.

The militant Islamic State Khorasan province (ISKP or ISIS-K), an arch-rival of the Afghan Taliban, has proven deadly and claimed responsibility for a series of significant terrorist acts in Afghanistan and Pakistan despite its tiny size.

The militant group’s military and intelligence chief was assassinated by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Special Forces on February 28 during an operation in Kabul.

A high-ranking ISKP official who was allegedly serving as the terrorist group’s subcontinental chief had been detained by the Afghan Taliban government in a separate operation.

Following a high-level delegation led by the nation’s defence minister visiting Kabul last week, the operations took place against the backdrop of meetings where Pakistan was able to secure “fresh commitment” from the Afghan Taliban on addressing the resurgent threat posed by the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to officials familiar with the development.
