Azam Khan Excluded from Practice Ahead of Pakistan vs India Match

NEW YORK: Azam Khan, facing scrutiny for his recent lackluster performance, was excluded from batting practice during the team’s net session ahead of their crucial match against India. Sources revealed to Geo News that the 25-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was sidelined while his teammates prepared.

This exclusion hints at a possible lack of confidence from Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, and coach, Gary Kirsten, in the young player. Fans have voiced their frustration over Azam’s inclusion following Pakistan’s disappointing loss to the United States earlier this week, increasing the pressure on him.

Azam has also been trolled on social media, prompting support from Imam Ul Haq, who defended him by stating that such trolling affects a player’s performance. In response to the backlash, Azam either deleted or archived all posts on his Instagram account, sparking speculation that this was a reaction to the criticism over his fitness and selection.

Despite his success in T20 leagues both in Pakistan and abroad, Azam, the son of legendary wicketkeeper-batter Moin Khan, has consistently faced criticism regarding his physical fitness. Since his international debut in July 2018, he has struggled in T20Is for Pakistan, scoring only 88 runs in 13 innings.
