What Does Faiz Hameed’s Sentence Really Mean Atta Tarar Raises Big Claims

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has welcomed the verdict against former DG ISI Lt. Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, calling the decision a major victory for truth and justice. He said the ruling shows that the law applies to everyone and that state institutions follow strict accountability rules.

According to Atta Tarar, the Pakistan Army’s internal accountability system is strong and transparent. He said that action is taken whenever someone crosses the “red line” or violates institutional limits. The minister added that the verdict was based on solid evidence gathered during a lengthy and detailed trial.

He stated that Faiz Hameed was given full legal rights throughout the process. This included the opportunity to defend himself, present witnesses, and challenge the evidence. Tarar said the trial reviewed all testimonies and documents before reaching a conclusion, proving that no one is above the law.

The Pakistan Army’s ISPR confirmed that Faiz Hameed faced four major charges. These included involvement in political activities while still in service, violating the Official Secrets Act, and compromising national security. He was also accused of misusing authority and government resources, which caused financial loss to individuals.

After a 15-month Field General Court Martial, he was found guilty on all charges. The court sentenced him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment on December 11, 2025. ISPR said the process followed all legal requirements. It also stated that Faiz Hameed had the right to choose his defense team and still holds the right to appeal the decision at the proper forum.
