The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. This marks the seventh time that such warrants have been issued against her in connection with an ongoing case.
According to court sources, the ATC reissued the non-bailable warrants after Aleema Khan failed to appear despite multiple summons. The court expressed dissatisfaction over her repeated absences and directed law enforcement agencies to ensure her arrest before the next hearing.
The case against Aleema Khan pertains to alleged involvement in incidents being investigated under anti-terrorism laws. While the details of the charges remain under judicial process, the repeated issuance of arrest warrants indicates that the court is taking a firm stance on ensuring compliance with legal proceedings.
Legal experts note that the non-bailable status of the warrants means Aleema Khan cannot secure bail immediately upon arrest and must first appear before the court to explain her absence. They add that repeated no-shows in an ATC case could lead to stricter legal consequences.
The development adds to the growing list of legal challenges faced by PTI leaders and associates amid ongoing political and judicial scrutiny. Observers say the court’s persistence reflects its intent to uphold accountability and ensure that no one evades due process.
Meanwhile, the federal government continues to emphasize adherence to constitutional procedures and the rule of law. Earlier, Ahsan Iqbal reiterated that any constitutional amendment requires a two-thirds majority in Parliament, underscoring the importance of democratic and legal norms.
The court has adjourned the hearing until the next date, directing authorities to submit a compliance report on the execution of Aleema Khan’s arrest warrants. Further proceedings will determine whether she appears voluntarily or is taken into custody.
