Key features of the device include:
- Single Rear Camera: The iPhone 17 Air will come equipped with a 48-megapixel rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera.
- No Physical SIM Tray: It will use eSIM technology exclusively, marking the removal of the physical SIM card tray.
- Audio Design: The device will forgo the bottom-edge speaker, with a single speaker located in the earpiece.
- Apple-Designed 5G Modem: Reports suggest it will use Apple’s 5G modem, possibly leaving out mmWave 5G support, potentially lowering data speeds.
- Battery and Performance: The slim design will result in a smaller battery, which may impact battery life. However, the phone will come with a 6.6-inch Dynamic Island display, an A19 chip for improved performance, and 8GB of RAM.
- Durability: The frame will be made of lightweight aluminum, ensuring durability and portability.
In addition to the iPhone 17 Air, Apple will release the regular iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models. The Pro versions will feature enhanced cameras and a thinner aluminum chassis, with a partially glass rear to support wireless charging.
The iPhone 17 lineup is expected to launch in September 2025.
