[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Following the detection of Type-1 Wild Poliovirus (WPV1) of Afghan origin in a sewage sample in the adjacent district of Rawalpindi, health authorities are set to initiate an anti-polio campaign across the district starting from August 7.

The district health department, in collaboration with provincial and federal health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO), aims to vaccinate over 0.3 million children in the region.
This comes after a vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (VDPV2) case was reported in Hazro town of the district in July 2020.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
