In Bajaur’s Khar Tehsil, close to the district headquarters, Awami National Party (ANP) leader Maulana Khan Zaib and another individual were fatally shot in a targeted attack.
District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafiq confirmed that three of Maulana Khan Zaib’s companions sustained injuries in the incident and were transported to a hospital for medical care.

Maulana Khan Zaib served as the head of ANP’s Ulema Council and had previously contested for a National Assembly seat.
The DPO added that the assault occurred on July 13 during a campaign activity linked to a peace march. Police believe Maulana Khan Zaib was specifically targeted in the attack.
