Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir has voiced his support for the idea of appointing Sarfaraz Ahmed to a role within the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee.
Speaking about reports suggesting Sarfaraz’s possible involvement in selection matters, Amir said that such a move would be sensible and beneficial for Pakistan cricket. He praised the former captain for his integrity and deep understanding of the game, noting that Sarfaraz is well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the current players, making him a valuable addition to the decision-making process.
Amir clarified, however, that he has so far only seen these reports in the media and that no official confirmation has been made regarding Sarfaraz’s appointment.
Addressing ongoing rumors about his own potential return to international cricket, Amir reiterated that he has no plans for a comeback. He emphasized that it is time for Pakistan cricket to focus on nurturing and supporting the younger generation of players who represent the future of the team.
Reflecting on recent performances, Amir highlighted Pakistan’s achievement in reaching the Asia Cup final and expressed optimism that, with the right team combination, the national side has the capability to reach and win the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup final.
