Mountaineer Amina Shigri achieves successful ascent of 7,027m Spantik Peak

Amina Shigri, a young mountaineer from Gilgit-Baltistan, has added another achievement to her name by successfully scaling the 7,027-meter-high Spantik Peak, also known as Golden Peak, located in the Shigar district within the Karakoram range.

Her accomplishment highlights perseverance, courage, and the true essence of mountaineering.

Amina first gained recognition in 2021 when, at just 15 years old, she climbed the 6,400-meter Khusar Gang Peak along with her father, Sharafat Ali Khawaja, and brother, Ahmed Ali. Remarkably, the family carried out that expedition without any sponsorship. Starting their journey on August 26, 2021, it took them nearly a week to reach the summit.

Looking ahead, Amina has set her sights on hoisting Pakistan’s flag atop K2, the world’s second-highest mountain.

Khusar Gang, situated in Sildi village of Shigar Valley about 45 km from Skardu, is part of the Karakoram ranges and stands at over 6,000 meters. Its first recorded successful climb was in 1899 by American mountaineers Fanny and William Bullock-Workman, which at the time set a world altitude record for women climbers.

Amina’s latest success is celebrated as an inspiring milestone for Pakistan’s mountaineering community.

Similar record of another Pakistani was reported when Sajid Ali Sadpara Achieves Another Remarkable Mountaineering Milestone
