Pakistan Railways has suspended all train services operating from Quetta, affecting travel both within Balochistan and to other parts of Pakistan. The suspension includes major trains such as the Jaffer Express to Punjab, Bolan Mail to Karachi, the Chaman Passenger, and services on the Zahedan route.
Officials said that passengers holding tickets for affected trains will be fully refunded. The Jaffer Express traveling from Peshawar to Quetta was stopped at Jacobabad Station in Sindh after it failed to obtain security clearance. More than 400 passengers on board were sent back, causing travel disruptions and forcing many to arrange alternative transportation at higher costs.
The suspension has created widespread inconvenience for travelers, as security measures continue across Quetta. Pakistan Railways emphasized that the halt is temporary but did not provide a specific timeline for resuming train operations. Passengers are urged to monitor official announcements before planning journeys.
Authorities have also suspended mobile data services in Quetta to maintain security, further affecting communication and daily activities. Combined with train suspensions, this has caused significant disruption for residents and travelers alike.
Security officials confirmed that monitoring remains strict, with checkpoints and inspections in place to ensure the safety of passengers and the public. The Pakistan Railways spokesperson advised travelers to cooperate with authorities and follow official updates.
This move highlights the challenges faced by Pakistan Railways in maintaining safety amid heightened security concerns. Travelers are advised to plan carefully, stay informed, and avoid unnecessary travel until normal train services resume.
