Modern Transport Systems Crucial For Shared Prosperity, Says Aleem Khan

Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan has said that modern transport systems and strong connectivity are the backbone of economic growth and shared prosperity. He made these remarks at the Regional Transport Ministers Conference held in Islamabad on Thursday.

Addressing the opening session, Aleem Khan emphasized that smart, sustainable, and integrated transport networks are vital for boosting trade, creating jobs, and supporting inclusive development. He added that improved regional connectivity will help countries achieve economic progress and benefit millions of people across borders.

“Transport and connectivity are pillars of development,” Aleem Khan said. “Modern transport solutions are key to shared prosperity, and Pakistan is committed to promoting regional integration through sustainable infrastructure.”

The two-day conference gathered transport ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), International Road Transport Union (IRU), and the United Nations Secretary-General’s Office (UNSG) also attended.

The minister highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to develop a modern, environment-friendly transport system, including motorway expansion projects and smart logistics networks. He said these initiatives reflect the government’s goal of improving connectivity, reducing travel time, and lowering carbon emissions.

Alongside the conference, an international transport expo showcased innovations in green mobility, logistics, and road safety technologies. The event also provided a platform for regional cooperation in sustainable transportation.

Aleem Khan reaffirmed that Pakistan is investing in modern highways and digital transport infrastructure to enhance trade links and attract regional investment. He said collaboration among regional partners is essential to achieve shared growth, stability, and prosperity.
