AI Experts in Karachi Push for Unified Innovation Framework in Sindh

In a significant move to streamline Pakistan’s artificial intelligence (AI) development, a group of AI specialists and sectoral professionals convened in Karachi to forge collaborative pathways aimed at unifying ongoing efforts across Sindh. The meeting, held at a local hotel, brought together leading minds from the fields of science and technology, healthcare, and education, with representatives from both public and private institutions.

Participants stressed the urgent need to move beyond fragmented, individual projects and toward a collective strategy for AI growth. They acknowledged that while numerous initiatives are currently underway in the province, their impact remains limited due to lack of coordination and knowledge-sharing.

As a key outcome of the session, the attendees agreed to establish a provincial AI task force. This new body will include experts from both government and private sectors, with a mandate to promote innovative, integrated, and scalable solutions in AI. The task force will also work to assess existing AI-related research in academia and industry, identifying areas for potential synergy and expansion.

Notable attendees included Adnan Zaidi, CEO of Proxima, Dr Khalid Khan of PAF-KIET, Ayaz Ahmed and Raza Abbas from Security AI, and Sofia Hussain Ehtesham and Mohsin Kareem from FAST. Their shared vision is to build an ecosystem where academic institutions, startups, and government departments can learn from one another and push the boundaries of AI development in Pakistan.

The initiative signals a proactive shift in how the province approaches emerging technologies, laying the groundwork for long-term AI integration in policy, education, and industry.
