Veteran Pakistani film star Afzal Khan, popularly known as Rambo, has expressed disappointment over not receiving a prestigious award like the Pride of Performance, despite his three-decade-long career in the Pakistani entertainment industry.

Rambo and his wife, former film actress Sahiba, recently appeared on a private TV channel’s morning show, where they discussed their personal lives and showbiz careers. During the interview, Rambo voiced his concerns about the current state of award shows in Pakistan. He noted that in the past, there was a single award show that recognized all actors, films, and dramas. Now, with each TV channel hosting its own award shows, he believes this fragmentation is wrong.

Rambo suggested that there should be one unified award show for the entire Pakistani showbiz industry, where films and dramas from all TV channels are brought together and awards are given in each category.

Reflecting on his career, Rambo shared that he has received Nigar and other film awards in the past. However, he feels disappointed that despite working for 32 years and acting in 200 films, he has yet to receive an award like the Pride of Performance. He lamented that awards nowadays are often given based on connections, and he does not want any award that comes through recommendations or greetings.

“An award given on merit brings true pride; a recommended award does not bring genuine happiness,” Rambo said. He made a plea to those who distribute awards, asking them not to give him an award just because of his interview, as he does not want such an award.

Rambo also mentioned his mother-in-law, Nishoo Begum, who has yet to receive a presidential award, adding that because of this, he feels he has no right to complain.
