ADC Sialkot Sent To Jail On Judicial Remand In Corruption Case

A local court in Lahore has sent the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sialkot, Muhammad Iqbal, to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. This decision comes as part of a corruption case against him.

The court’s decision followed a hearing where the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) requested judicial remand after completing a four-day physical remand of the ADC. Officials informed the court that the investigation had concluded and a challan was being prepared.

The court accepted the ACE’s request and ordered that Muhammad Iqbal remain in custody. It also directed that the accused be produced again on August 27 for further proceedings.

Muhammad Iqbal was arrested earlier on allegations of corruption related to his official duties as ADC. The case is currently under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Establishment.

Meanwhile, concerns over the ADC’s arrest have reached political leaders. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reportedly expressed his reservations about the arrest to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during a meeting.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif assured that these concerns would be addressed. The matter highlights the sensitive nature of the case involving a senior government official.

The ADC plays a significant role in local administration and revenue collection. This case reflects ongoing efforts by anti-corruption authorities to hold public officials accountable.

As the investigation proceeds, the judicial remand will allow authorities to gather more evidence. The court’s decision to keep the ADC in custody underscores the seriousness of the allegations.

This case remains under close watch by both the government and political parties. The outcome will impact public perception of transparency and accountability within local government offices.

The next court hearing is scheduled for August 27, when further developments in the ADC’s case are expected. Authorities have pledged to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.
