The Supreme Court of Pakistan is set to modernize its financial operations with a new online billing system, officials confirmed. The announcement came after a briefing by Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) Kamran Rashid to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to digitalize government payments and reduce reliance on manual processes. The system aims to speed up expense settlements and ensure transparency in financial transactions.
During the briefing, Kamran Rashid updated the Chief Justice on AGPR’s digital initiatives. He highlighted steps taken to streamline government payments and improve efficiency. Chief Justice Afridi appreciated the efforts, emphasizing that modernizing the Supreme Court’s financial system is a priority.
The AGPR confirmed that the online billing system will be operational within two weeks. The platform will significantly reduce dependency on manual bills and cheques, ensuring faster processing of court expenses.
Plans are also underway to expand the system to High Courts. This will enable online collection of court fees and securities, providing litigants and stakeholders with a safer and more efficient financial process.
The Chief Justice stressed that fintech solutions should benefit all users of the judicial system. Collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan was also highlighted to ensure secure and transparent transactions across courts.
As part of the briefing, AGPR Kamran Rashid presented a commemorative shield to Chief Justice Afridi, symbolizing the partnership in advancing digital financial reforms within Pakistan’s judiciary.
