Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah has ordered officials to complete development work around the shrine of Hazrat Qalandar Lal Shahbaz.
The chief secretary issued the instructions during a meeting held on Tuesday. He said all major works must be completed before the annual Urs in January.
The Sindh government has allocated Rs1.28 billion for the development scheme. Officials have been directed to complete the work by December 31, 2026.
The projects aim to improve the shrine area and provide better facilities for pilgrims. The chief secretary also emphasized safety and convenience for visitors.
Development Work in Sehwan
Shah chaired a Zoom meeting to review progress on development projects in Sehwan. Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Qadri joined the meeting from Sehwan.
The deputy commissioner provided details about the Rs1,280 million development scheme. He said some parts were completed during the 2025-26 financial year.
The remaining work will continue during the current financial year. Several projects are focused on roads and facilities around the shrine.
A dual carriageway is being constructed between College Chowk and the shrine of Bodlo Bahar. The old Alam Pak will also be strengthened with ironwork.
New marble flooring will be installed at the shrine. The improvement is expected to provide greater comfort for visitors during hot weather.
Work is also underway at the musafir khana and chillah gah at Lal Bagh. The road between Bodlo Bahar shrine and the bazaar will also be improved.
Improved Facilities for Pilgrims
The development plan includes rehabilitation and improvement of roads leading to Sehwan and the shrine. Drainage and water supply systems are also included.
Officials are also working on streetlights and pedestrian facilities. These improvements are intended to support pilgrims during the annual Urs.
The deputy commissioner also discussed the reconditioning of another dual carriageway. The road runs from Jahaz Chowk to Government Degree College Sehwan.
The project will include paver blocks and footpaths. Solar streetlights, drainage facilities and an improved water supply system are also planned.
Chief Secretary Shah instructed all departments to finish the work before the Urs begins. He said the needs of devotees should remain a key priority.
Focus on Coordination and Construction Quality
The chief secretary stressed coordination between departments during construction. He said road projects should not be completed before underground infrastructure work.
This approach will help prevent damage to newly constructed roads. Departments were told to coordinate drainage, water supply and other related projects.
Shah also ordered officials to remove encroachments from routes used by devotees. Regular field visits will be conducted to monitor progress.
The meeting also covered several development schemes in Hyderabad. These projects include roads, a pumping station and a filtration plant.
Other projects include flyovers and a bridge with connecting roads. Shah directed officials to complete these schemes within their approved timelines.
He also ordered that completed projects must become operational for public use. Construction quality and proper use of public funds were highlighted as priorities.
Officials were instructed to conduct technical inspections and test construction materials regularly. Safety measures must also be maintained at all project sites.
Commissioner Fayyaz Abbasi was assigned to oversee implementation. He will identify delays and help resolve issues affecting project progress.

The Jamshoro commissioner and deputy commissioner were also directed to conduct regular inspections. The Sindh government aims to ensure timely completion and quality execution of the development works.
