Thick fog has covered major highways across Pakistan, leading to widespread travel disruptions in parts of Punjab and Sindh. The Motorway Police have confirmed that several motorway sections have been shut to ensure public safety due to extremely poor visibility.
According to officials, the M-3 motorway between Jaranwala and Rajana has been closed, along with the M-4 stretch from Khanewal to Multan. The M-5 motorway connecting Multan and Rohri has also been shut as dense fog continues to limit visibility for drivers.
In addition to motorways, foggy conditions have affected the National Highway and nearby areas. Visibility remains low in cities such as Mian Channu, Khanewal, Multan, Basti Malook, Lodhran, and Bahawalpur. Similar conditions have been reported in Ahmedpur Sharqia, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad, making travel risky for motorists.
The Motorway Police have issued strong warnings, advising drivers not to change lanes unnecessarily while driving in fog, as sudden movements can result in serious accidents. Authorities have urged commuters to delay their journeys if possible and avoid traveling during night and early morning hours when fog is at its peak.
Officials stated that the safest time to travel in foggy conditions is between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, when visibility usually improves. Drivers are advised to use fog lights, maintain safe distances, and reduce speed while on the road.
Travelers are also encouraged to stay updated on road conditions before setting out and follow instructions issued by traffic authorities. The Motorway Police emphasized that caution and patience are essential until weather conditions improve and roads are fully reopened.
