Did TikToker Mehak Malik Buy a PSL Franchise?

Recently, claims have been circulating widely on Pakistani social media that Mahak Malik, a well-known transgender dancer and TikTok personality, has purchased the new Faisalabad franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), supposedly becoming the league’s first transgender team owner.

Many users have shared the news, portraying it as a significant step for gender inclusion. Online posts suggest that Malik aims to bring her popularity among the youth to the team and that PSL management has welcomed her involvement. Some posts further claim that her ownership would set a landmark example of gender representation in Pakistan’s sports sector.

However, fact-checking shows that there is no official confirmation of these reports. The PSL and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have neither confirmed nor denied Malik’s alleged franchise purchase. The claims appear to be based purely on social media speculation without credible sources.

Officially, the PCB announced that PSL 11 will expand from six to eight teams in 2026. The auction for the new franchises is set for January 6, 2026, with successful bidders required to select a city and team name from six shortlisted cities, including Faisalabad. No new teams have been finalized yet.
