LAHORE – Fake files, illegal transfers, and fraudulent bookings have long plagued Punjab’s housing societies, causing concern among homeowners. Now, the Punjab government has introduced strict enforcement of the Housing Societies Management System (HSMS) to curb these practices.
All private housing societies and relevant authorities have been ordered to fully comply without delay or exceptions. Under the new rules, no file transfer will be permitted without NADRA biometric verification and entry into the e-registry. This move signals a zero-tolerance approach toward fake files, forged documents, and double bookings.
Authorities have flagged societies that ignored previous reminders and placed DG Housing and regulatory bodies on high alert to monitor transactions continuously. The government has made digital land transfer registration mandatory, with violations leading to fines, suspension of society registration, or criminal action.
Parcel certificates are now officially recognized as valid title documents, a step expected to reduce ownership disputes and court cases. Additionally, full digital recording of land records is required to close revenue loopholes. All regulatory authorities must submit compliance reports within seven days, or face strict administrative consequences.
