The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to upgrade all sectors of Islamabad. The initiative focuses on road repairs, streetlight restoration, and drainage improvements across the capital.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa chaired a meeting where officials reviewed the current state of civic infrastructure. Detailed surveys for roads, streets, and commercial centers were discussed, and preliminary cost estimates for older sectors have been finalized.
The citywide plan ensures uniform development in every sector. Roads will undergo patchwork, carpeting, and reconstruction. Footpaths will be repaired, and new sidewalks will be added where required. Malfunctioning streetlights will be restored, and new poles installed to enhance public safety and visibility.
Commercial areas, including Super Market, Jinnah Super, Aabpara, Karachi Company, and the Blue Area, will also receive upgrades. The CDA chairman directed officials to consult with traders and business associations to minimize disruption during the repair work.
The project also includes new signage, lane marking, and rubber speed breakers. Sewerage and drainage networks, including manholes and curb stones, will be improved as part of the rehabilitation effort. Experienced architects will be involved in beautification projects to enhance the overall environment of Islamabad.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized using internal resources and modern machinery to execute the plan efficiently. He stated that the initiative aims not only to improve civic services but also to restore Islamabad’s aesthetic appeal through high-quality development work.
