Meta To Invest $600 Billion In US To Achieve ‘Superintelligence’

Meta has announced a $600 billion investment in the United States to develop artificial intelligence and create new job opportunities by 2028. Much of the funding will focus on expanding AI data centers across the country.

The company emphasized that its goal is to develop next-generation AI products and move toward what it calls “personal superintelligence.” Meta believes that strengthening its data center network is essential for achieving these technological ambitions and maintaining US leadership in AI innovation.

The $600 billion commitment was first revealed at a White House dinner with technology leaders in September. CEO Mark Zuckerberg mentioned the figure, which later drew further attention when a private exchange with President Trump was accidentally caught on a live microphone. Zuckerberg admitted uncertainty about the exact number expected during the discussion.

Meta highlighted that its data center operations have historically created thousands of jobs. Since 2010, the company has provided over 30,000 skilled trade positions and 5,000 operational roles. Currently, Meta is investing more than $20 billion with US subcontractors to support its expanding network and operations.

Looking ahead, Meta plans to advance AI technologies, including AI-powered devices like smart glasses. These initiatives aim to bring “superintelligence,” where AI could surpass human cognitive abilities. Industry experts have praised Meta’s ambitious vision but also caution that safety and ethical measures are crucial before fully implementing such technologies.
