Punjab Home Department has extended Section 144 throughout the province for another week, keeping the restriction in place until November 15. The notification states that protests, rallies, sit-ins, and any public gathering of four or more people will continue to be banned.
A spokesperson confirmed that displaying weapons, using loudspeakers, and distributing hate-based or sectarian material also remain prohibited. The decision aims to prevent unrest and ensure public safety amid ongoing security concerns.
However, the restrictions do not apply to weddings, funerals, burials, court activities, or officials on duty. Loudspeakers are only allowed for the call to prayer and Friday sermons.
Officials warned that crowded demonstrations may become easy targets for terrorism, enabling disruptive elements to carry out anti-state actions.
