India has released spinner Kuldeep Yadav from its squad for the upcoming T20 International series against Australia, officials confirmed on Monday. The decision is reportedly part of India’s rotation policy to manage player workload before the busy international season.
Kuldeep, who has been a consistent performer in recent months, was initially included in the squad but later withdrawn to allow rest and recovery. Team management said the move aims to keep him fresh for the upcoming Test matches and major tournaments.
Sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that no injury concerns were involved in his release. Instead, selectors want to give opportunities to younger bowlers to test their skills against a strong Australian side.
In his absence, players like Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar are expected to take on more responsibility in the spin department. Both have shown promise in previous outings and are likely to play key roles in the five-match series.
Kuldeep’s absence could slightly affect India’s bowling depth, given his recent match-winning performances. However, team officials remain confident that the rotation approach will benefit India in the long run.
The T20I series between India and Australia begins later this week, with matches scheduled in several major cities. Fans are eager to see how the new lineup performs against the defending T20 World Cup champions.
