Punjab Rolls Out New Safety And Health Plan For Special Kids

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the province’s first health and safety initiative for special children, a landmark move aimed at creating inclusive and secure spaces for children with disabilities across the province.

Addressing the launch ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said that every child deserves equal opportunities for healthcare, education, and safety. She added that the Punjab health and safety initiative is designed to bridge long-standing gaps in the system by improving medical care, introducing specialized training for teachers and caregivers, and ensuring accessibility in public facilities.

Under this initiative, the government will establish rehabilitation and therapy centers in all major districts, upgrade hospital facilities, and train healthcare professionals in pediatric disability care. The project also emphasizes the development of infrastructure, such as ramps, safe classrooms, and first-aid units, to make schools and hospitals more accommodating for children with special needs.

Maryam Nawaz noted that Punjab’s hospitals are also undergoing major upgrades to improve their medical standards and ensure equal access to all patients. In connection with this vision, several hospitals are being revamped to meet PHC standards and provide better treatment facilities.

The Chief Minister highlighted that this program is not just about infrastructure, it’s about dignity and inclusion. She stated that society must shift its perception of special children from sympathy to empowerment, recognizing their unique strengths and potential. The Punjab health and safety initiative aims to do exactly that, ensuring that children with disabilities receive care and respect in every space they occupy.

Maryam Nawaz concluded her address by saying that the government’s commitment to inclusive health care marks a turning point for Punjab. With this initiative, the province moves closer to becoming a model of compassion, accessibility, and responsible governance for special children and their families.
