ECP Issues By-Election Schedule for Shikarpur’s PS-9 Constituency

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially released the schedule for the Shikarpur by-election, marking the beginning of another important electoral contest in Sindh.

According to the notification, the by-election will take place in the PS-9 provincial constituency of Shikarpur. The ECP stated that all necessary arrangements are being finalized to ensure a smooth and transparent polling process.

The announcement comes as part of ECP’s ongoing efforts to fill vacant seats in provincial assemblies across the country. Nomination papers will be accepted within the designated period, followed by scrutiny and the publication of final candidate lists before the polling day.

Political analysts believe that this by-election could become a significant indicator of shifting voter sentiment in Sindh. Several political parties are expected to field strong candidates, making PS-9 Shikarpur one of the most closely watched constituencies in the province.

The ECP has also urged political parties and candidates to adhere to the code of conduct during their campaigns. Strict monitoring teams will be deployed to prevent any violations, ensuring that the election remains free, fair, and peaceful.

In recent months, the Election Commission has been actively managing several electoral processes and disputes, aiming to maintain transparency in all democratic exercises. This includes monitoring ongoing political developments and coordinating with law enforcement agencies to provide security during the polls.

Observers note that the outcome of the Shikarpur by-election could influence political alignments in Sindh ahead of future elections. The ECP’s decision is expected to intensify campaigning efforts in the coming days.

In a related political development, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohaib Afridi recently staged a protest after being denied entry to Adiala Jail. His move highlighted the growing political tension across provinces as leaders continue to press for their respective causes.

The Election Commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting all elections within constitutional timelines, stressing that transparency and public confidence remain its top priorities.
