Pakistan Rejects ICC’s Statement Alleging Death of Afghan Cricketers in Airstrike

Pakistan has strongly rejected the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) statement claiming that several Afghan cricketers were killed in a recent airstrike near the border. The Foreign Office termed the allegations as baseless and misleading, urging the ICC to avoid spreading unverified information about sensitive regional matters.

According to the official response, Pakistan clarified that no airstrike took place in the area where the incident was alleged. Authorities emphasized that such false claims not only damage Pakistan’s reputation but also risk fueling unnecessary tensions between neighboring countries.

The statement added that Pakistan remains committed to peace and stability in the region, and will continue to act responsibly in all security operations. Officials also expressed disappointment that an international sports body like the ICC commented on a political and military issue without proper verification.

Observers noted that the ICC’s claim drew widespread attention on social media, where misinformation spread quickly before official clarification arrived. The Foreign Office urged the international community to rely only on verified reports from credible sources when addressing regional security issues.

Pakistan reaffirmed that its armed forces act only against terrorist threats and never target civilians. It further warned that attempts to distort facts or involve global institutions in political narratives could harm the spirit of sports diplomacy between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The government called on the ICC to retract its statement and focus on promoting the game of cricket instead of engaging in political controversies.
