Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of new international flights connecting Islamabad and Lahore to Muscat, further strengthening its network in the Gulf region. The new routes are part of PIA’s broader strategy to boost revenue and improve regional connectivity.
According to a spokesperson for PIA, the airline will begin direct flights from Lahore to Muscat on October 29, followed by Islamabad to Muscat flights from October 30. The routes will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft, which are designed to provide passengers with a safe, comfortable, and reliable travel experience.
The initiative marks a key step in PIA’s plan to revitalize its international operations by targeting destinations with high passenger demand, especially in the Middle East. The Gulf region has long been a strong market for PIA, catering to both business travelers and the large Pakistani expatriate community.
Officials said that the new Muscat routes will not only expand travel options but also help strengthen air ties between Pakistan and Oman. The direct flights are expected to make travel more convenient for those visiting family, conducting business, or exploring tourism opportunities in both countries.
A PIA spokesperson added that this expansion reflects the airline’s ongoing efforts to improve its financial performance and operational reach. By introducing new routes and optimizing existing ones, PIA aims to attract more passengers while ensuring consistent service standards.
The launch of the Muscat flights comes amid PIA’s broader transformation plan to modernize its fleet, streamline operations, and regain its position as a competitive international carrier. The airline is also focusing on upgrading passenger services and expanding its digital booking system to enhance the customer experience.
