Former U.S. President Donald Trump has said he is willing to mediate peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan, calling the ongoing conflict “an easy one” to solve.
Speaking at the White House during a joint appearance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump claimed he had already helped defuse several global crises and “saved millions of lives” through his peace efforts. He said ending wars gave him great satisfaction, even though his main focus was running the United States.
“There is a war going on in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Stopping this war is the easiest thing for me,” Trump said. He added that he enjoyed saving lives and believed peacekeeping was one of his greatest strengths.
The former president also mentioned his previous involvement in easing tensions between Pakistan and India, which he described as “a bad one between two nuclear nations.” According to Trump, the Prime Minister of Pakistan had once said that he “saved millions of lives” by helping to calm the situation between the two countries.
He claimed credit for solving or easing several global conflicts during his time in office. “I’ve solved eight conflicts, including the Middle East,” Trump stated, adding that he had worked on disputes in Gaza, Armenia, Rwanda, the Congo, and Thailand.
Despite his self-proclaimed success as a peace negotiator, Trump humorously remarked that he never received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. “Every time I solve one, they say, ‘If you solve the next one, you’ll get it.’ But I didn’t get it,” he said.

During his talk with Zelensky, Trump also highlighted his recent peace summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said the meeting reflected his commitment to diplomacy and his desire to prevent wars.
Trump concluded by saying he takes pride in “saving lives” and sees himself as someone “good at solving wars.”
