Veteran left-back Jordi Alba has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the 2025 MLS season. The Spanish defender shared that he is stepping away from the game with peace and satisfaction after a long and successful career.

Alba, 36, has been playing for Inter Miami since 2023 after leaving Barcelona, where he spent 11 remarkable seasons. During his time with the Catalan club, he won several major trophies, including six La Liga titles, five Copa del Reys, and the UEFA Champions League.

He was also an important part of Spain’s national team, earning 93 caps and contributing to their Euro 2012 victory. Known for his pace, sharp attacking runs, and defensive discipline, Alba was one of the most consistent full-backs of his generation.

Although Alba had extended his contract with Inter Miami earlier this year, he decided to end his career following the conclusion of the current MLS campaign. His final appearance is expected to come after the league playoffs conclude in November.

Fans, teammates, and former coaches have paid tribute to Alba’s incredible career, calling him a modern-day legend who defined the full-back role with his energy and skill.

As Alba prepares to say goodbye to the pitch, he leaves behind a lasting legacy — a player who combined technical brilliance, determination, and loyalty throughout his football journey.
