Wasim Akram Hits Back at Indian Media Mistake

Former Pakistan cricket captain and fast-bowling legend Wasim Akram has criticized Indian media outlets for mistakenly using his picture in reports about a man arrested in India on espionage charges who shares his name.

Taking to social media, Akram urged people to verify any social media account or news mentioning his name before sharing or reacting to it. He explained that an Indian national named Wasim Akram was detained on spying allegations, but Indian channels wrongly used his photo in their coverage.

Expressing frustration in a mix of humor and sarcasm, Akram wrote in Punjabi, “Who are you people and where do you come from? No checks, no balance — just random comments without realizing it’s not even my account!”

He cautioned fans to remain calm and always confirm information before drawing conclusions.

Notably, Indian authorities in Haryana recently arrested a YouTuber named Wasim Akram for allegedly spying for Pakistan, which led to the mix-up that sparked the controversy.
