Pakistan’s cueist Arfan Dad has secured a place in the semifinals of the ongoing Asian Heyball Championship in Jordan after an impressive performance that saw him eliminate two Indian opponents in a single day.
In the pre-quarterfinals, Arfan defeated India’s Shehbaz Adil Khan with a convincing 7-3 scoreline, followed by a thrilling 7-6 victory over Shivam Arora in the quarterfinals. His strong run has now set up an all-important semifinal clash against another Indian contender, Sandeep Gulati.
Heyball, often referred to as the Chinese version of 8-ball pool, is distinguished from the traditional format mainly by its unique table standards and equipment. The championship has drawn top cueists from across Asia, highlighting intense regional competition and growing popularity for the sport.
Pakistan was represented by two players in the tournament — Arfan Dad, who is based in the United Kingdom, and Nadeem Gill. However, Gill was knocked out earlier in the Round of 32. Arfan’s consistent performance and composure under pressure have earned him widespread praise, as he continues his quest to bring home a major title for Pakistan in the regional championship.
