Heavy rain across different cities in Pakistan washed out the entire opening day of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26. Not a single ball was bowled as wet outfields and continuous drizzle made playing conditions impossible.
Ground staff worked throughout the day to dry the pitches, but persistent rain forced officials to call off play at all venues. Fans who were eagerly waiting for domestic cricket’s biggest event were left disappointed.
This year’s Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was expected to start with exciting matchups between top regional teams, featuring several national players returning to form. However, the weather spoiled the opening day, delaying the much-anticipated start.
Officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are hopeful that conditions will improve, allowing play to resume from Day 2. Teams remain on standby, waiting for a break in the weather to finally begin their campaigns.
The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy holds great importance in Pakistan’s domestic cricket circuit, serving as a platform for players to prove themselves for national selection. The washout, though disappointing, is unlikely to affect the enthusiasm surrounding the tournament once the action begins.
