Egyptian Wrestler Ashraf Mahrous, famously called Qabunga or Strongman, stunned the audience in Hurghada with a record-breaking feat. On Saturday, he pulled a 700-ton ship using only his teeth.
The event took place at the Red Sea resort, where large crowds gathered to witness his display of power. After moving the massive vessel, Mahrous went further by towing two more ships together. In total, he managed to pull nearly 1,150 tons, an achievement he now hopes to register with Guinness World Records. He aims to surpass the 2018 record of pulling a 614-ton ship.
This was not the first time the Egyptian Wrestler displayed superhuman strength. In March, he successfully pulled a 279-ton train with his teeth across a 10-meter distance. That performance earned him a Guinness certificate for moving the heaviest rail vehicle.
Over the years, Mahrous has attempted and completed many incredible stunts. His past records include towing a 15,730-kilogram truck, pulling the heaviest locomotive, and finishing the fastest 100-meter road vehicle bridge challenge. These feats have earned him a reputation as one of the strongest men in the world.
Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 155 kilograms, the Egyptian Wrestler follows a demanding lifestyle. He trains for nearly six hours each day, split into two sessions. Unlike many athletes, he avoids supplements, instead depending on a protein-rich diet of eggs, chicken, and fish.
Mahrous believes strength is not only about physical preparation but also about mental focus. He explained that he establishes a bond with the object before moving it, allowing his heartbeat to synchronize with the challenge.
With his latest success in Hurghada, the Egyptian Wrestler has once again proved his strength and determination. His performance may soon be recognized on a global stage by Guinness World Records.
