Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged the OIC and the United Nations to intensify efforts for Palestine and the wider Muslim world. He addressed a high-level session of the OIC in New York and later attended an international conference on the Palestinian issue, co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France.
Speaking at the OIC meeting, Dar emphasized the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), focusing on peace, justice, mercy, and tolerance. He said these principles align closely with the UN Charter and highlighted historical examples such as the Covenant of Medina and the Treaty of Hudaibiyah as foundations of interfaith harmony and international law.
Dar warned that ongoing injustices, including Israeli actions in Palestine, the situation in Kashmir, and rising Islamophobia, pose serious risks to global peace. He called on the OIC to play a stronger role in protecting Muslim rights and translating the Prophet’s message of compassion into practical international policies.
He also stressed the need for close cooperation between the UN and the OIC to address today’s challenges, saying Pakistan is committed to working with both organizations to achieve peace and justice.
At the international conference, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for the two-state solution. He welcomed recent recognition of Palestine by France, Britain, Australia, Canada, and Portugal, and urged more countries to take similar steps under international law.
Dar condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza and demanded an immediate, permanent ceasefire. He highlighted the importance of ensuring full humanitarian access to the Palestinian people.
Pakistan has consistently supported Palestine, being one of the first countries to recognize it in 1988. The Foreign Office reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a sovereign, independent Palestinian state with full UN membership.
Dar’s participation at both forums underlined Pakistan’s solidarity with Palestine and its call for stronger international action toward lasting peace.
