India captain Suryakumar Yadav once again declined to shake hands with Pakistan skipper Salman Agha after winning the toss and opting to field in their Asia Cup Super Four clash on Sunday.
The rivals entered the high-stakes contest amid heightened tensions, as India had already sparked controversy with a “no-handshake” stance in their earlier encounter at the same Dubai venue. This match marked their first face-off since a deadly four-day border conflict in May that claimed over 70 lives.
Despite Pakistan’s protest to the ICC against referee Andy Pycroft—accused of advising Agha not to approach Suryakumar for a handshake—the Zimbabwean official continues to oversee the game. The PCB demanded his removal and even threatened to pull out of the tournament.
India remain unbeaten after three group-stage wins, while Pakistan, finishing second behind them, skipped their pre-match press conference but assured team morale is steady.
