ICC Suspends Netherlands Pacer Vivian Kingma for Drug Use

DUBAI – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a three-month suspension on Netherlands fast bowler Vivian Kingma for breaching its Anti-Doping Code.

The matter came to light after Kingma’s sample, collected on May 12 during the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, tested positive for a prohibited substance. The ICC confirmed that the cricketer admitted the violation but maintained that the substance had not been used during actual competition.

The suspension officially began on August 15, meaning Kingma is currently barred from all forms of competitive cricket under ICC regulations. In addition, his statistics from the May 12 ODI against the UAE, as well as any subsequent games played, have been nullified.

Kingma, a right-arm pacer, has been a regular member of the Dutch squad, featuring in 30 One-Day Internationals and 26 Twenty20 Internationals. His absence will be a setback for the Netherlands as they continue to strengthen their side on the international stage.

The ICC emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on doping violations, reiterating that maintaining fairness and integrity in the sport remains a top priority. This case serves as another reminder of the governing body’s strict approach to upholding clean cricket worldwide.

In another incident, Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali cleared of rape charges by UK police after investigation into fresh allegations.
