Islamabad–Rawalpindi Rail Car Project Cleared for Launch

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday approved a new rail car service to connect Islamabad and Rawalpindi, calling it a public welfare project that will make travel easier for residents of the twin cities and nearby areas.

The announcement was made at the groundbreaking ceremony of the T-Chowk Flyover, where the premier instructed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi to immediately begin work.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that the railway track needed for the service is already in place, allowing for swift implementation. Once launched, the project will not only improve daily commuting but also benefit tourists visiting the region. He further assured full federal support for the initiative.

Earlier, the prime minister inaugurated the Rs. 1.4 billion T-Chowk Flyover at the junction of Islamabad Expressway and G.T. Road. The flyover, expected to be completed in 150 days, aims to ease traffic congestion for residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby areas
