Seven Killed in Armed Attack on Passenger Vehicle in Lower Kurram

At least seven people were killed when unknown gunmen opened fire on a passenger vehicle in Lower Kurram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday

Police said the attack occurred near Ahmad Khan Kalle, after which the assailants fled. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. The bodies were shifted to THQ hospital as investigations continue.

Kurram District Police Officer Malik Habib called it an attempt to disrupt peace in the region. MNA Engineer Hameed Hussain condemned the act, describing it as a conspiracy by miscreants that would not succeed.

The attack comes shortly after a series of consultative Jirgas led by KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur, where tribal elders and leaders from Sunni and Shia communities pledged unity against terrorism and endorsed government peace efforts.

The Jirga also urged stronger cross-border dialogue with Afghanistan and opening trade routes to improve livelihoods, emphasizing that regional peace is vital for development.
