SC Rejects Man’s Petition Against Sister’s Inheritance Share

The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a petition filed by a man challenging his sister’s rightful share in inherited property. The SC ruled that denying a woman her inheritance rights is against Islamic teachings and the law.

During the hearing, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan stated that sisters play an important role in households. He questioned why their contributions should be ignored when it comes to inheritance. He noted that sisters cook and clean for their brothers, who benefit from their services.

Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, who led the two-member SC bench, emphasized that the Quran clearly grants inheritance rights to sisters. He said there can be no argument or excuse to deny women their lawful share in family property.

The SC also pointed out that the documents submitted for property distribution did not even include the sister’s signature. This raised questions about the fairness and authenticity of the agreement presented by the brother.

The SC rejected the brother’s claims and ruled that the petition had no legal basis. The bench reaffirmed that sisters cannot be deprived of inheritance under any circumstances.

This decision by the SC sends a strong message about protecting women’s rights. It also reinforces that Islamic and legal principles must be followed in matters of inheritance.

Legal experts praised the SC’s verdict, saying it upholds both justice and the true spirit of Islamic law. They added that such rulings will help reduce the exploitation of women in inheritance disputes.

The SC has consistently ruled in favor of women’s rights in property matters. This latest case shows the court’s ongoing commitment to fairness, equality, and justice for all citizens, regardless of gender.

The ruling highlights the importance of ensuring women’s legal rights are respected within families and upheld in courts.
