JEDDAH – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday to take part in the 21st extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The meeting is being held at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah.
Ishaq Dar was warmly welcomed at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, Fawad Sher, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq, and Consul General Khalid Majeed.
The main focus of the OIC meeting is the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Delegates will discuss the recent Israeli military actions and the reported human rights violations against Palestinians. The session aims to develop a joint strategy for OIC member states to respond to the situation.
According to the Foreign Office, the meeting will also address plans for Israel’s full military control over Gaza and seek urgent humanitarian aid for the affected people. Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan’s position, which strongly supports the Palestinian cause.
At the meeting, Ishaq Dar is expected to emphasize Pakistan’s call for Israel’s withdrawal from all occupied territories, including Jerusalem. He will also support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.
Humanitarian assistance for civilians in Gaza will be another key topic that Ishaq Dar will highlight. Pakistan continues to advocate for peace and justice for Palestinians in international forums.
During his visit, Ishaq Dar will also hold bilateral talks with foreign ministers of other OIC countries. These meetings will focus on building consensus on the Palestine issue and enhancing regional cooperation.
