Peacemaker Season 2 Returns on HBO Max with Multiverse Drama

After three years, Peacemaker makes its return on HBO Max with Season 2, written and directed by DC Studios co-head James Gunn. The premiere, The Ties That Grind, takes Chris Smith (John Cena) on an intense, emotional journey as he stumbles upon a portal to a seemingly perfect alternate universe.

The series marks a major shift with the DC Universe reboot, transforming the Justice League into the Justice Gang in the recap, though the focus remains on Peacemaker’s personal story rather than large-scale DCU changes.

Season 2 opens with another lively dance-filled intro, set to Oh Lord by Foxy Shazam, hinting at Chris’ complicated romance with Emilia and his grief over past losses. Struggling with loneliness, drugs, and his haunted memories, Chris’ life changes when he discovers the alternate world—only to face tragedy as he accidentally kills his other self.

Familiar characters return, each with new struggles: Leota’s marital split, Emilia’s job loss and violent spiral, Economos’ reluctant spying, and Adrian’s comic relief. Despite conflicts, the group begins reconnecting, while Chris and Emilia’s evolving relationship adds tension and humor.

With its mix of comedy, heartbreak, and bloody chaos, Season 2 keeps Peacemaker as bold and unpredictable as ever, proving James Gunn hasn’t lost the show’s spark.

For Netflix users, Season 2 of Wednesday’s announced on Netflix
