The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a new AI-based application to support immigration services and stop human smuggling.
The new system was introduced during a visit by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to FIA headquarters. Director General FIA Raja Riffat Mukhtar gave a detailed briefing on the project.
The AI-powered app is designed to speed up the immigration process at airports. It will also help identify suspicious activity linked to human trafficking. The pilot project will begin at Islamabad International Airport.
Interior Minister Naqvi said the app will make travel easier for passengers. It is expected to reduce long queues and improve airport efficiency. He called it a major step in modernizing the FIA’s operations.
Naqvi directed the immediate release of funds to upgrade the agency’s IT systems. He also ordered improvements to the FIA headquarters building to support the new technology.
During the visit, the interior minister asked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to quickly transfer land for the new FIA Academy. The land had already been approved but had not yet been handed over.
Naqvi also pointed out the shortage of staff within the FIA. He directed the agency to begin recruitment for all approved vacant posts without delay.
“I will provide the required resources,” Naqvi said, “but performance must also be visible.”
The FIA’s use of artificial intelligence shows a shift toward smarter, faster, and more secure systems. By using AI, the agency aims to stop illegal activities and improve services for travelers.
This move supports the government’s goal to strengthen border control and fight human trafficking through technology. If successful, the FIA may expand the app to other major airports across Pakistan.
The launch of this digital tool marks a key moment in the FIA’s modernization journey.
