Shaheen Afridi

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir believes that star pacer Shaheen Afridi has the potential to become an all-rounder for Pakistan in the forthcoming 2023 ODI World Cup, which will be held in India later this year.

Afridi has shown remarkable batting talents in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). He scored a half-century and was promoted to the top of the batting order on several occasions, with success.

Amir believes that if Afridi continues to improve his batting, he can become a limited-overs all-rounder like India’s Hardik Pandya.

“If he continues to work on it and believes he can improve his batting, then yes. Practice makes perfect. I saw that he can hit long sixes and can score a fifty “he stated.

Amir claimed that the fast pace of modern cricket necessitates quick judgements, and adaptable batsmen are becoming more valued. He believes Pakistan should explore using Afridi’s batting skills in the 2018 World Cup.

“These days, cricket has gotten so rapid that you have to make decisions in seconds,” he explained.

“Cricket textbooks are no longer relevant. And, these days, batters’ gameplans are so varied that you may deploy various batters in different situations. Therefore, definitely, Pakistan should think about it “Amir came to a conclusion.

The 22-year-old’s current ODI record consists of 102 runs in 16 innings at an average of 17 with a strike rate of 70.
