KARACHI – A heartbreaking event unfolded at Karachi’s Do Darya on Thursday evening, where a man reportedly threw two children—aged around five to six—into the sea before jumping in himself in a suspected suicide.
Eyewitnesses claimed the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs during the incident. Rescue teams, including divers and police, rushed to the scene after receiving alerts, but the search was halted due to darkness and poor visibility. Edhi officials confirmed that recovery operations would resume Friday morning.
Some bystanders attempted to intervene but were unable to save the victims. One witness said he saw the bodies floating and immediately informed authorities.
Police have begun an investigation and are trying to identify the man and the children. While the motive remains unclear, the incident has stirred deep concern in the city, raising alarms about mental health and drug abuse issues.
