National Assembly Imposes New Limits on MNAs Social Media Access

In a move aimed at preserving the decorum of parliamentary proceedings, the National Assembly has issued a new social media policy restricting how Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) access and share media content related to House sessions.

As per a circular issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, MNAs will no longer be allowed to obtain photos or video footage directly from the media wing. Instead, all official visuals will now be disseminated exclusively through the Assembly’s official social media platforms.

The policy specifies that selected photos and videos from the House will be shared only on the National Assembly’s official Facebook page. Individual MNAs are no longer permitted to record or independently cover the sessions.

Officials say this step is intended to ensure uniformity in the representation of parliamentary activities and to uphold the dignity of the House in the digital space.
