Heavy rainfall lashed Haripur and nearby areas from Tuesday night, causing local streams to overflow, inundating key roads, and significantly increasing the water level in Tarbela Dam. In response to the situation, the district administration opened the dam’s spillways on Wednesday.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a cautionary alert, warning of the possibility of a medium-level flood at the dam.
Meanwhile, Tarbela Dam authorities have alerted the deputy commissioners of Haripur, Nowshera, and Swabi districts to remain on high alert and prepared for emergency measures.
