Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to draft by-laws mandating a uniform design for shops across the province, aiming to enhance the visual appeal of urban areas. The directive was issued during a meeting on the Punjab Development Programme.

Maryam Nawaz emphasised that once the development programme is completed, cities across Punjab should present a clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing look. To streamline the initiative, she approved the establishment of a dedicated Project Management Unit.

The comprehensive Punjab Development Programme will span 189 cities, with support from major international partners including the World Bank and Asian Development Bank. The plan involves a series of infrastructure and development projects focused on improving city landscapes and livability.

Specifically, 15 cities will be developed under the World Bank-supported Punjab Inclusive Cities Programme (PICP). Additionally, projects for 144 cities have already been included in the province’s Annual Development Programme (ADP), signaling a wide-reaching transformation effort.
