Trump Says He Knew of Israeli Plan but Denies U.S. Role in Tehran Strikes

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that he was aware of Israel’s plan to launch airstrikes on Tehran before the operation took place, while insisting that the United States played no direct role in the mission. Speaking to Fox News, Trump reiterated that Washington’s priority remains preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons and re-engaging in diplomatic talks.

Trump’s remarks came hours after a series of Israeli airstrikes on Tehran killed top Iranian officials, including Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Commander Hossein Salami, and two prominent nuclear scientists. The strikes, which Iran has described as coordinated with the U.S., mark a sharp escalation in regional tensions.

Despite denying direct American involvement, Trump acknowledged that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had informed him of the impending operation. Sources close to the former president also revealed that Washington had alerted at least one key Middle Eastern ally before the attack occurred.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has rejected Trump’s claim of non-involvement, stating that such a complex and targeted strike could not have happened without U.S. coordination. Tehran has vowed that both Israel and its backers will be held accountable for the consequences of what it called an act of aggression.

Trump confirmed that the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is now on high alert, emphasizing America’s commitment to defend itself and its allies. He also noted that recent arms support to Israel included restocking the Iron Dome defense system — a move that may further fuel Iranian suspicions of U.S. complicity.
